In many states including Maharashtra, the rule of 50 percent capacity is still applicable in theaters due to Corona. In such a situation, now the industry is afraid that during the release of big budget films, the state governments once again imposed a cap of 50 percent capacity in the states with 100 percent capacity, then it will have a direct impact on the collection of films. Not only this, if due to this again the makers decide to postpone the release of the film, then the entire calendar of film releases will also get spoiled.
Waiting for a hit after ‘Sooryavanshi’
After ‘Sooryavanshi’, John Abraham’s ‘Satyamev Jayate 2’ could not perform as expected. Aayush Sharma and Salman Khan’s ‘Antilim: The Final Truth’ also disappointed. After this ‘Tadap’ and ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ were also released. But none of these films could even touch the total earning of 50 crores. This is the reason that now all eyes are on the upcoming films. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, “After Sooryavanshi, it is not looking great at the box office. It is expected that the films to be released in the coming days, Pushpa, Spider-Man, 83, Jersey, RRR, Radhe Shyam and Prithviraj will see a return to the box office with a bang at the box office. The films coming one after the other are expected to return to the box office again.
concerns about restrictions
On the other hand, the people of the industry were also worried that some restrictions should be brought by the government again due to Omicron. If ‘Sooryavanshi’ could not reach the 200 crore club, then a major reason behind it was the rule of 50 percent capacity in cinemas in many states including Maharashtra.
Bollywood people are worried
On the other hand, film producer and film business analyst Girish Johar is also worried about the coming days. He says, ‘After the second wave of Kovid, open theaters started very strongly with ‘Sooryavanshi’ and this film is standing at the mouth of 200 crore club. But after that no other film has been able to show this feat. Now it is expected that the big films of Bollywood, South and Hollywood to be released in the coming days will return to the box office again. A lot is at stake for the film industry between December and January when Omicron hits. During this time all the big budget films are being released. According to an estimate, around 1500 crore rupees of the film industry are at stake during this period. Whereas, including the Hollywood film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, this stake will reach Rs 3000 crore. During this, all eyes will be on big budget films like ‘Pushpa’, ’83’, ‘RRR’, ‘Radheshyam’ and ‘Prithviraj’.
