Anupam Kher’s niece Vrinda Kher broke down while shooting this scene of The Kashmir Files

In Kashmir Files, which revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, Vrinda plays Bhavani Kaul, a Kashmiri Pandit who is one of the displaced people from her homeland. The film depicts a grim scene in which Kashmiri Pandits in a migrant camp are surrounded and killed by terrorists disguised as security personnel. The graphic scene depicts the character of actress Bhasha Sumbali as Sharda Pandit, a woman from the community who broke down while doing the scene.

Vrinda Kher, who was also part of the production and direction teams in the Vivek Agnihotri film, said that it was difficult for the team to film the climax as they had to remember real-life events to bring out the emotions in the scene. The actress told Times Now, “The climax scene in which Bitta tore Sharda’s clothes was especially difficult for all of us. The language broke and it was very difficult for her to be a part of that scene. So, all the emotions that come with her.” It was really real on screen. It was very difficult to imagine that someone has actually gone through this.”

Vrinda said that the recently released film was special to her not because it was her first film, but also because the subject was very close to her heart. She said about working with Anupam in the film, “I was lucky because I got to see Anupam ji in action and it was a lesson for me.”
