Climate: the energy renovation of housing, a central issue in France

The insulation and temperature regulation of buildings play a major role in the French effort to limit CO2 emissions. But the subject has been little discussed by the presidential candidates.

Slowly but surely, the idea settled in people’s minds: the energy renovation of housing is on the way to becoming unavoidable. With carrots with bonuses and aid but also under the threat of the stick with the upcoming ban on renting thermal strainers, the number of these renovations take off in France. In the midst of the election campaign, the major tool developed by the government to subsidize this work, the MaPrimeRenov’ scheme has just been increased by 1,000 euros for the installation of a renewable energy boiler. From this Friday, April 15 and until the end of the year, aid to equip yourself with a heat pump, a wood or solar boiler can reach 11,000 euros. As for aid for gas boilers, even with very high energy performance, they will be abolished from 1er january. A decision clearly linked to the desire to reduce the country’s dependence on Russian natural gas.
