Covid-19: should vaccination be extended to “essential” professions?
DECRYPTION – Vaccinating people working in particularly exposed sectors would be a way of protecting themselves, but also the unvaccinated population.
The message was transmitted by word of mouth at the end of last week: in Grenoble, several teachers of all ages were able to get an appointment to be vaccinated in a dedicated center … before being turned away at the entry Monday. They were nevertheless convinced that their turn had come, no doubt reinforced by the words of the President of the Republic who still declared at the end of March that the vaccination of teachers against Covid-19 could be considered to leave “From mid-end of April” when “The doses of vaccines would arrive en masse”.
But since then, the discourse has not been the same. “It would make no sense to vaccinate a 30-year-old teacher in priority over his 70-year-old parents. It would even be a sanitary misconception ”, thus decided Emmanuel Macron last week. The Ministry of Health indicates that “Teachers working with children with disabilities, some 50,000 people over 50, should be vaccinated from next week”
