DECRYPTION – The epidemic rebound observed in France justifies that the over 60s strengthen their vaccine protection, according to the authorities.

The epidemic rebound is still limited, but it is now undeniable. For the past few days, the Covid incidence curve has been rising again, a sign of an acceleration in new cases (around 50,000 yesterday and a weekly growth of 49%). The responsible are the BA.4 and BA.5 strains of the Omicron variant, which represent more than half of the new cases in France. A context which justifies continuing and even accelerating the vaccination campaign for the second reminder of people at risk, recalled the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
