Covid-19: two doses of vaccine are essential against the Delta variant, according to the European Medicines Agency

An always useful reminder. The administration of two doses of vaccine is essential “to provide adequate protection against the Delta variant” of coronavirus, said the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Wednesday July 14. The EMA calls on the member states to speed up their vaccination programs.

“Preliminary data suggests that two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (…) are necessary to provide adequate protection against the Delta variant“the EMA said in a statement.

“Compliance with the recommended vaccination program is essential to benefit from the highest level of protection”, added the EMA, which recommends administration of two doses for the Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.

The Delta variant of Covid-19, initially spotted in India, will represent 90% of Covid-19 cases by the end of August, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC ).
