DIRECT. Cannes Film Festival 2022: two former Palme d’Or winners present their films in competition

Ten years separate these two winners of the Palme d’Or. The rRomanian director Cristian Mungiu won the prestigious prize in 2007 for his film 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, while Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund was winning the precious trophy in 2017 with The Square. Two directors whose latest films will undoubtedly arouse special attention.

A multi-award winning in competition. In addition to the Palme d’Or, Cristian Mungiu also won the screenplay prize in 2012 and the director’s prize in 2016. An impressive Cannes prize list which inevitably creates high expectations. His sixth film, NMRtakes place in a village in Transylvania against a backdrop of ethnic tensions.

Ukraine honored at the Directors’ Fortnight. The young filmmaker Ukrainian Dmytro Sukhollytkyy-Sobchuk presents, Saturday May 21, his first feature film entitled Pamfir.
