The 111th edition of the World Track Cycling Championships begins Wednesday, October 20 at the Stab Vélodrome in Roubaix. Initially planned for Turkmenistan, the event was relocated to France for health reasons. The first round is scheduled from 1 p.m. with the qualifications for the women’s team pursuit.
The Germans, who broke three world records in Tokyo (4’7”307 in qualifying, 4’6”159 in the playoffs against Italy and 4’2”242 in the final against Great Britain), will be favorites in the team pursuit.
The Francaises de Victoire Berteau and Valentine Fortin will also be expected, the French delegation having returned from the European Championships in early October with 10 medals in total. The objective for the Blue will be to do better than at the Olympic Games, beaten in the playoffs by Canada.
