Dr Patrick Bouet: “Getting vaccinated is a moral duty to protect patients”
INTERVIEW – The general practitioner and president of the National Council of the Order of Physicians insists on “the central place” occupied by family physicians in the vaccination process.
Generalist in Seine-Saint-Denis, the Dr Patrick Bouet is president of the National Council of the Order of Physicians.
LE FIGARO. – You work in Seine-Saint-Denis, which is very affected by the virus. Are the measures decided by the government sufficient?
Dr Patrick BOUET. – We know that the Covid is practically a social disease, because it concerns more strongly the fragile, precarious populations, in a situation of concentration. I pleaded for strong measures very early on. You have to be agile, be able to react quickly, and not persist in delaying the necessary measures.
City doctors can now vaccinate. Why is the campaign so slow?
From the first week, 29,000 general practitioners out of 55,000 have reserved doses of vaccines, this is a very good result. In a very short time, 50% of family doctors volunteered, despite upstream preparation little shared by the Ministry of Health. Many professionals have not even received the bottle
