Curd occupies a prominent place in most Indian households. It is eaten with hot paratha, sweet lassi, soft syrup or other food. It is also used in raita, curd rice, dahi vada. Curd is made from milk through a special method. A bacteria called Lactobacillus plays an important role in the process of curd formation.
Yogurt full of health benefits Lactobacillus bacteria convert the lactose present in milk into lactic acid, which is extremely beneficial for our stomach. Good bacteria work to protect us from disease. Yogurt is also rich in phosphorus, calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, magnesium and potassium. The probiotics in yogurt help in the proper functioning of the digestive system. However, curd should not be mixed with certain food ingredients. Do not consume these food with curd
fish- Avoid eating curd with fish as both the foods are high in protein. Experts advise that two protein-rich ingredients should not be mixed together. It can cause indigestion and stomach related problems.
Milk- Milk and yogurt are good sources of non-vegetarian protein, both of which come from the same family as animal sources of protein. Hence, both should not be consumed together. It can cause diarrhoea, acidity, bloating and gas.
urad dal- According to a report, the use of curd with urad dal can spoil your digestive system. Consuming both the food ingredients together can lead to indigestion, diarrhea and bloating.
onion- People often use curd and onion in the form of raita. If you have the habit too, then quit immediately as curd is cooling in nature, whereas onion is known to generate heat in the body. This mixture can cause rashes, psoriasis, itching and skin allergies.
Mango- Like onions and curd, mango mixed with curd can create cold and hot conditions in the body, which can lead to skin problems and toxic substances all over the body. It is also said that curd should not be used at night. Being high in protein and energy, curd can increase phlegm.
