Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Phantom’ has been banned in Pakistan due to its controversial content. It was based on Hussain Zaidi’s novel ‘Mumbai Avengers’. Jamaat-ut-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed had requested the Pakistan government to ban it because there is an anti-Pakistan film.
Karan Anshuman made his directorial debut with this film. Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat starrer ‘Bangistan’ was also banned in Pakistan. The country banned its release only after watching the trailer. Ritesh had approached the Pakistan High Commission and told that the satire made in the film is not against Pakistan. However, it had no effect.

Seeing the biopic of Milkha Singh ‘Flying Sikh of India’, many people got teary-eyed and the film inspired the Indian audience a lot. The film’s backdrop was on the India-Pakistan partition. However, the Farhan Akhtar starrer could not release as Pakistan felt that their country was not presented well in it.

Released in 2010, this Bollywood sports film reached many international festivals. It also won many awards. The story of the film revolves around an Indian and a Pakistani kick boxer who fight for an international tournament. The background of ‘Lahore’ is based on the political rivalry of both the countries but the film tries to show the peace between the countries with the help of boxing. However, the Pakistani Censor Board did not allow it to be released as they found some dialogues in the film objectionable.
