A Palestinian man shot and wounded by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday (April 26th) at dawn, reports the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Ibrahim Oweidat, 20, was shot in the head in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp near the Palestinian city of Jericho, the Palestinian ministry said, without giving further information on the circumstances of the incident. The Israeli military said the incident was under review and did not comment further on the reports.

Two other Palestinians were injured by gunfire when Israeli forces entered the Aqabat Jaber camp overnight, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa noted.

This incident comes against a backdrop of tension and violence in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Since March 22, 14 people have been killed in anti-Israeli attacks.

In retaliation, the Israeli forces were given carte blanche to “overcome terror” and carried out operations punctuated by deadly clashes in the occupied West Bank. A total of 25 Palestinians, including assailants, died during the same period.

In occupied East Jerusalem, hundreds of Palestinians have been injured in recent weeks in clashes with Israeli security forces.
