The French, two-time European vice-champion in his discipline, took his revenge after his frustrating defeat at the gates of the final earlier in the day. At 21, the world number 3, who was playing his first Paralympics, made short work of Kazhakstani Zhanbota Amanzhol, thanks to an ippon (immobilization) achieved after a minute. This new podium allows France to count 23 medals.

Helios Latchoumanaya won his fight against Zhanbota Amanzhol in the small final for the bronze medal. In a matter of seconds, the Frenchman dominated his opponent and won by ippon.

Hélios Latchoumanaya brings the second medal in French judo in these Paralympics after the silver won by Sandrine Martinet, in the under 48 kilos.
