PODCAST – Éric Woerth: Catholic, pragmatic, “full of doubts and hope”

Member of the Oise and LR chairman of the finance committee of the National Assembly since 2017, Eric Woerth, 64, does not make a secret of his Catholic faith, without carrying it as a standard. This right-wing man claims to listen to the voice of Pope Francis who in a new book, “A time for change”, delivers a plea for universal income, the flagship proposal of the socialist candidate for the 2017 presidential election.

Rejecting the label of “liberal”, this staunch supporter of individual freedom calls with conviction to avoid caricatures. The former Minister of the Budget then of Labor during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, marked by the slogan ” Work more to earn more “, does not shy away from the differences in approach with the Argentine Pope who “Is addressed to the whole world and not only to France”.

A practicing Catholic, Eric Woerth shares this mixture of doubt and hope which also carries him through the trials of life. The former minister also confides with some emotion his passion for the mountains and mountaineering.
