Recently it was reported that Hansal Mehta’s popular web series ‘Scam 1992’ achieved the feat of being the highest rated Indian show in the list of Top 250 TV Shows Worldwide in IMDb. Watch ‘Scam 1992’ is ranked 18th in the list on IMDb’s ‘Top Rated Shows’ menu. The web series has got 9.5 ratings and 1.11 lakh users have voted for it.

Interestingly, why is the web series ‘Scam 1992’ at number 18 in the ‘Top Rated Shows’ list despite a 9.5 IMDb user rating? Whereas, ‘The Family Man 2’ has got an 8.8 out of 10 rating on IMDb and has become the fourth most popular web series in the world.

This is how we understand the whole issue of rating and ranking. In the IMDB database, only the votes of the regular voters in the top 250 are counted. At the same time, the votes of occasional users are not counted. Many times it happens that there is a lot of voting for a show but if the voters are not regular users of IMDb then their rating is not counted.
