Regional elections: Renaud Muselier candidate LR en Paca, “My backbone is my region”

The outgoing LR president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Renaud Muselier, announced on Tuesday April 27 his candidacy for a new term.

It’s official, this Tuesday Renaud Muselier entered the campaign for his re-election at the head of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, which he has been leading since 2017.

Outgoing LR president announced this Tuesday in a press release. “Those who know me know it: my spine is my region. It is solid!”, he explains.

Renaud Muselier highlights his “solid record” for almost four years at the head of the region. “The 8 political components which form the regional majority also support me: throughout this term of office, there has never been a lack of a single voice in our action”.

No alliance with LREM

President LR, who says “southern man” indicates wanting to fight for the coming months: “There are cafes and restaurants to reopen, festivals to organize, a social and cultural life to be rediscovered: we are going to win it back”.

For the moment no alliance with the LREM candidate Sophie Cluzel. The Secretary of State for People with Disabilities has also declared herself a candidate. “I will freely constitute the widest possible list, without agreement of devices, to face the difficulties of tomorrow with calm, efficiency and pragmatism”, specifies Renaud Muselier.

Renaud Muselier will also face Thierry Mariani, the RN MEP, ex-LR, declared himself Thursday April 22 to be the head of the National Rally for the regional elections. The two politicians, often described as “enemy brothers”, had made their debut at the same time in the RPR and joined the National Assembly in the same year, in 1993.

Renaud Muselier like nine other regional presidents declared himself against a postponement of the regional elections in a column published on March 21 in Le Figaro. Originally scheduled for March, the ballot was postponed to June 20 for the first round and June 27 for the second.
