Sedition case filed against director Ayesha Sultana, accused of spreading lies about Kovid

A case of sedition has been registered against Lakshadweep’s famous film director and actress Ayesha Sultana. Ayesha is accused of falsely accusing the central government of Kovid 19 during a Malayalam TV debate a few days ago. Ayesha had said, ‘The central government is spreading corona in Lakshadweep like a biological weapon.’

After this statement of Ayesha, a complaint has been lodged against her by Lakshadweep unit BJP President Abdul Khadar. Lakshadeep’s Kavaratti police have registered a case against the film director under sections 124A (sedition) and 153B (hate speech) of the Indian Penal Code.

In his complaint filed with the Lakshadweep capital Kavaratti police on Wednesday, Khader said Sultana had made serious allegations against the central government during a debate on a Malayalam TV channel. Ayesha made a false allegation against the central government saying, ‘Covid-19 is being used as a biological weapon by the central government in Lakshadweep’.

The BJP leader has also alleged in his complaint that this statement of Ayesha is completely anti-national, thereby tarnishing the image of the central government. Therefore, strict action should be taken against Ayesha so that this does not happen again. The BJP leader held protests in the islands demanding action against the filmmaker. Significantly, Ayesha, a model, director and actress based in Lakshadweep, has worked with many Malayalam filmmakers. Sultana hails from Chetiyath Island in Lakshadweep.
