Snow: ten departments in the north-eastern quarter of France now on orange vigilance



Are you in a territory stretching from the North to Haut-Rhin? Caution: the weather on Thursday January 14 will be marked by a notable snowfall in the northeast, according to Météo France forecasts. The Ardennes, Aisne, Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Nord, Vosges, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin and Territoire-de-Belfort are placed in snow-ice orange vigilance from 6 a.m.

From the North to the Ardennes, to Lorraine, Alsace and the Territoire de Belfort, the cold will return: temperatures will oscillate between 1 and 4 degrees throughout the day, it will begin to snow all the way to the plain at the beginning of the morning and these falls snowfall will continue into the night of Thursday to Friday. The white layer will go from 2 to 5 cm from the Lille region to the north of the Aisne. In the departments in vigilance, the planned layer will be more important from 7 to 15 cm to locally 20 cm.

The passage of school transport was preventively canceled this Thursday in four departments, in the Vosges, Meuse, Moselle and Meurthe-et-Moselle. Interurban connections are not provided either in Moselle, Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle.

Trucks over 3.5 tonnes are also prohibited from driving at more than 70 km / h and banned from overtaking on roads and highways in 11 departments in the East (Moselle, Ardennes, Doubs, Jura, Meurthe- et-Moselle, Meuse, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Vosges and Territoire de Belfort), by decision of the prefect of the eastern defense and security zone.

On its website, Météo France recalls that the traffic conditions in areas placed under orange vigilance “can quickly become very difficult on the whole network, especially in the forestry sector where falling trees can increase the difficulties”. The forecaster therefore invites him to limit his movements as much as possible.
