Unemployment: the number of job seekers in category A fell by 12.6% in 2021

Unemployment continues to fall. In France, including in the overseas territories but outside Mayotte, the number of job seekers stood at 3,335,600 for category A in the fourth quarter of 2021. This figure fell by 5.9% over the quarter and by 12.6% over one year. For categories A, B, C (i.e. including partial activity) this number stands at 5,658,900. It decreased by 3.6% over this quarter and by 5.8% over one year. .

On average in the fourth quarter of 2021, in mainland France, the number of people registered with Pôle Emploi and required to seek employment stood at 5,368,200, including 3,101,800 people in category A. The number of unemployed people increased decreased by 6.2% over this period and 13.2% over one year.

The number of people engaged in short-term reduced activity (category B) decreased by 3.6% compared to the previous quarter and over the same period that of people in long-term reduced activity (category C) increased by 1.5%. In total, the number of job seekers in categories A, B, C fell by 3.8% over this quarter and by 6.0% over one year.
