Vaccination: the urgency of mobilization against the Delta variant

DECRYPTION – While contaminations are on the rise, the challenge is to maintain a high vaccination rate against Covid-19 during the summer.

On a ridge line. On the one hand, the threat of the Delta variant (from India), which is much more contagious, on the other hand, that of still insufficient vaccination coverage. While the number of cases is already on the rise in France,
government spokesman Gabriel Attal recalled that a fourth wave of the pandemic at the end of the month was“a possibility”. The executive thus calls “To general mobilization”for “mass vaccination”, while a new Defense Council is scheduled for next Monday. There will be a question of a possible compulsory vaccination for caregivers and the extension of the health pass for access to certain shops or restaurants.

Worried, France is watching closely what is happening elsewhere, especially among vaccination champions like Israel where more than 55% of the population has received two doses. In this country, contaminations are on the rise with more than 100 new cases per day. A rebound largely due to the Delta variant.
